Persicaria tinctoria, Senbon variety (pink flower).
Try growing your very own natural blue dye with this temperate climate indigo plant. Persicaria is in a genus of plants commonly known as smartweeds or knotweeds (sometimes this plant is called "dyer's knotweed"). It is noninvasive, and easy to grow either in your garden or in pots.
To see the plants from which these seeds were harvested, please visit my Instagram page.
I include a printed copy of my Indigo Growing and Processing guide to help you get started, which can be downloaded here.
As these seeds have been hand-winnowed, expect a little leftover plant matter. Each packet contains thousands of seeds. There is a roughly 60-70% viability rate for these seeds, so plant extra to make sure you have plenty of plants. Any seeds you don't use can be put in the freezer for use later. (They will lose viability over time, but will still produce plenty of plants.)
- $15: 1/4 oz. packets (approx. 7.1g): contain roughly 2800+ seeds
- $22 (Save 25%): 1/2 oz. packets (approx. 14.2g): contain roughly 5600+ seeds
SHIP TO USA & CANADA ONLY. For international inquiries, contact me directly at [email protected].
Shipping internationally will depend on the import rules for seeds in your country. I cannot be held responsible for seeds that don't make it through customs. I also cannot provide a phytosanitary certificate. (It's just me and my home garden!) Check with your country's rules of import for seeds, and if you believe they can pass through customs, I'll be happy to send them!
