The leaves of Anthurium pedatoraradiatum are shiny, light green and can grow up to 60 cm wide. The entire plant reaches a height of about 1 meter , making it a relatively compact species. The plant is sometimes called 'finger anthurium' because of the lobed leaves.
This species, unlike many other Anthurium species, grows directly in the soil on the forest floor, rather than as an epiphyte in trees or on rocks.
Care.
Since this Anthurium grows naturally in the ground, it needs a slightly more moisture-retaining soil mix than epiphytic Anthuriums. Feel free to use regular potting soil as a base and mix in coconut coir and organic matter to create an airy but permeable structure. The soil should be kept evenly moist to ensure good growth.
Place the plant in a bright place but without direct sun. It thrives best in temperatures between 20 and 25 °C and a humidity of 50–70% is sufficient.
Botanical description.
Anthurium pedatoraradiatum consists of two subspecies, both endemic to Mexico. The species is found in southern Veracruz, Chiapas and Tabasco at altitudes from sea level up to 800 meters. Most findings have been made above 500 meters in an area of "selva alta perennifolia" north of Ocozocoautla, where limestone cliffs are common.
Appearance.
This species belongs to the section Schizoplacium and is characterized by its deeply lobed leaves with entire lobes, erect inflorescences that are shorter than the leaves, and a green, lanceolate bract.
After a few years it can flower and develop an inflorescence with a green holly leaf and a purple pistil. Buy Anthurium pedatoraradiatum online!
