Origin
Cattleychea is an intergeneric cross between Cattleya and Guarianthe, combining characteristics of both genera. Developed by hybrid breeders in Asia, Siam Jade was selected for its unique coloration and elegant flower shape.
Characteristics
The flowers are medium-sized and stand out for their fresh, greenish color, often with a hint of lemon yellow in the throat and a contrasting lip in white or soft pink. The whole gives a modern, almost minimalist look rarely found within the Cattleya alliance. It grows medium-sized, with sturdy pseudobulbs and leathery leaves, and has retained the robustness of its parents.
Care
Light
Lots of bright light is needed, but filter bright midday sun. A sunny windowsill or greenhouse position is ideal.
Temperature
This hybrid grows well in moderate to warm climates: 18-28 °C, with slight nighttime cooling.
Substrate
An airy mixture of medium-sized tree bark supports healthy root growth.
Humidity
A humidity of 60-75% is ideal, with adequate air movement to prevent mold growth.
Nutrition
During the active growth phase, fertilize lightly weekly with orchid fertilizer.
Watering
Give only demineralized water. Allow the substrate to dry slightly between waterings, but avoid prolonged dryness.
